hors les muren
With the aim of strengthening the links between the neighbourhoods of Forest and Saint-Gilles and bringing local residents closer to cultural spaces, Hors les muren! creates encounters and cultural, artistic and participative projects, mainly in public spaces.
How does it do this?
- By organising cultural and artistic projects with and for local residents, especially teenagers, while promoting existing projects.
- By setting up synergies and participatory methodologies that allow all the cultural and socio-cultural partners to work together.
- With, at the core of its project, art in public spaces that revitalises them by inviting residents, artists and associations to take those spaces over and brighten them up.
The Hors les muren! project exists thanks to a cooperation between three key locations in the municipalities of Saint-Gilles and Forest, with the support of the Collège des bourgmestres et échevins of Forest and Saint-Gilles, within the framework of the Contrat de rénovation urbaine ROI.
The WIELS, one of the capital’s main contemporary art centres.
BRASS, the cultural centre of Forest, which offers a varied programme of shows, concerts, courses and residencies throughout the year.
Finally, the Maison des Cultures de Saint-Gilles, a meeting place for art and culture, promoting living together and interculturality.
